Makkah Hypermarket is hiring an Accountant for its hypermarket in Muscat, Oman. You will look after the store's day-to-day accounting: reconciling daily cash and card sales, processing supplier invoices and payments, supporting inventory counts and closing the books each month.
The role suits an accountant with retail or FMCG experience who is hands-on with ERP systems and Excel, comfortable working to deadlines, and familiar with Oman VAT requirements.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile daily cash, card and digital-wallet sales against POS reports and bank deposits
- Process supplier invoices, credit notes and payments; keep payables accurate and on schedule
- Maintain the general ledger and post journal entries in the ERP system
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing and management reports
- Participate in periodic stock counts and reconcile inventory variances with the floor teams
- Prepare VAT workings and support filings as per Oman tax regulations
- Monitor petty cash, store expenses and cash-office procedures
- Assist with internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
- 3+ years' accounting experience, preferably in retail, supermarket/hypermarket or FMCG
- Hands-on experience with an ERP or accounting system (SAP, Oracle, Tally or similar) and strong Excel skills
- Working knowledge of VAT and basic Oman/GCC accounting compliance
- Accurate, well organised and reliable with deadlines
- Good communication in English; Hindi/Urdu or Arabic an advantage
- GCC experience an advantage
