Makkah Hypermarket is looking for an experienced Butcher to join the fresh meat department of its hypermarket in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. You will prepare beef, lamb, mutton and poultry to customer order and for the display counter, working to strict halal handling and food-hygiene standards.
The role suits a butcher who has worked in a supermarket, hypermarket or busy butchery, is confident with all standard cuts and deboning, and takes pride in a clean, well-presented counter and friendly customer service.
Responsibilities
- Cut, debone, trim and portion beef, lamb, mutton and poultry to customer requirements and standard specifications
- Prepare mince, cubes, steaks, marinated items and ready-to-cook lines
- Set up and maintain an attractive, correctly labelled and priced meat display counter
- Serve customers at the counter, advising on cuts and quantities
- Follow halal meat-handling requirements and strict hygiene / HACCP procedures at all times
- Maintain the cold chain: correct storage temperatures, FIFO stock rotation and expiry checks
- Minimise wastage and record trimmings/wastage as instructed
- Clean and sanitise work areas, tools and equipment; keep knives and saws in safe working condition
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience as a butcher, preferably in a supermarket, hypermarket or commercial butchery
- Skilled in all standard cuts, deboning and portioning of red meat and poultry
- Knowledge of halal meat handling and food-hygiene (HACCP) practices
- Able to operate band saws, mincers and slicers safely
- Physically fit and able to work standing, in chilled areas, on shift patterns
- Basic communication in English, Hindi/Urdu or Arabic
- GCC experience an advantage
